Birthday Run

The last Saturday of every month is set aside as a Birthday Run, organized to celebrate all hashers born in that month. Traditionally, the birthday celebrants take responsibility for making the day special. They usually contribute by providing extra beer for everyone to enjoy after the run. In addition, celebrants arrange chops or light refreshments to keep spirits high. In some months, celebrants go the extra mile by hosting hashers to an On-On After, extending the celebration further.

St. Patrick’s Run

The St. Patrick’s Day Run is held to commemorate the feast of St. Patrick and is scheduled on the run day that falls closest to the 17th of March, either before or after. To mark the celebration, all hashers are encouraged to turn out in green, which is the traditional color associated with St. Patrick’s Day. The vibrant display of green outfits creates a lively atmosphere, as the pack runs together in festive spirit, honoring tradition while enjoying hashing camaraderie.

Breast Cancer Awareness Run

The Breast Cancer Awareness Run is a special pink-powered event dedicated to raising awareness and showing support. Held in solidarity with those battling cancer and honoring survivors, the run carries a meaningful purpose beyond the trail. On this day, hashers turn out in pink outfits, proudly wearing the color that symbolizes awareness, strength, and hope. The sea of pink creates a striking sight as the pack runs together, spreading encouragement, unity, and compassion while keeping the hashing spirit alive.

Chasing Waterfalls Run

Abuja H3 hosts an annual Waterfalls Run, dedicated to exploring the many beautiful waterfalls found in the city’s suburbs. This unique event usually takes place in September and offers hashers a refreshing break from the usual trails. The adventure begins with a 3–4 kilometer walk or hike leading to the waterfall. Once there, hashers enjoy the chance to shower beneath the cascading waters or simply relax in the cool, therapeutic ambience, sharing laughter, drinks, and unforgettable hashing camaraderie.

Bob Marley Run

Abuja H3 hosts the annual Bob Marley Run, a vibrant celebration of music, unity, and the legendary spirit of the reggae icon himself. This themed event, usually held in May to honor Marley’s birthday month, brings hashers together in a relaxed, colorful atmosphere filled with good vibes. The trail is designed for fun and rhythm, with 3–5 kilometers of easy running and walking routes that encourage singing, dancing, and plenty of “irie” energy along the way. After the trail, hashers gather for reggae beats, cold drinks, and laughter, embodying Marley’s timeless message of peace, love, and one big hashing family.

Halloween Run

The Halloween run is usually held on the last Saturday of October. Just like the St. Patrick’s Day run, it was initiated by the expatriates who founded the Abuja H3 in 1997. Since then, Abuja H3 has carried on with the tradition, and continues to observe the Halloween run every year. Halloween is celebrated in many Countries on 31st October, and is recorded as the period in the Christian liturgical year, dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints, martyrs and all the faithful departed. In popular culture, Halloween has become a celebration of horror and is associated with the macabre and the supernatural.
